Meet the students: discover their path and follow their advice!

Erika Damasco, now Addetto contenzioso credito at Eni.

Erika, student of the International Master in International Business and Corporate Law, explained how has been life changing to enter Rome Business School, for the whole experience and the job she is doing right now.

Tell about yourself, what your pre, during, and post master’s degree journey has brought you to where you are today.

I’m Erika Damasco, I’m 22 years old, and in just a few months, my life has been completely turned upside down! I’ve always been a very determined person with a strong desire to grow. I attended the University of Global Law and Transnational Legal Studies in Turin. The journey was wonderful, but I felt the need to complete my studies with both a theoretical and practical approach: the master’s program of international business and corporate law at RBS was the best choice. The professors, the company visits, everything the school has to offer is definitely the first step to truly understand the right job for you. Thanks to the master’s program, I perfectly understood the sector in which I wanted to specialize, and I am extremely happy and almost incredulous that soon I will be part of the credit litigation team at Eni, the largest energy company in Italy.

What are the most important skills you acquired at RBS, which ones you will need to work on the most and which ones to focus on that are essential in the world of work today

RBS taught me the ability to relate to people of different ages, diverse ethnicities, and with different backgrounds. Before RBS, I had never had the opportunity to interact with people so different from myself, and every day I understand how important it is to learn from each of them. One thing I definitely need to work on is the importance of problem management: at work, we all face problems to solve every day, and I hope to learn not to bring the problems and burdens we all have during working days into my home. Today, I believe that in the world of work, organization and teamwork are the main characteristics for a successful career!

Why did you decide to join RBS, what did the master’s program give you in terms of skills, competencies, meetings with companies and experiences?

I chose the Master’s program in International Business and Corporate Law because it was the only program that would provide the perfect complement to my undergraduate studies. The subjects were interesting and innovative, but especially the faculty: highly qualified and with vast experience in the sectors I was interested in. Choosing RBS was very easy; a school with students from all over the world, with very high employment rates, and student services that are hard to find elsewhere. Everyday you have the chance to meet very important companies and be in contact with them, this is the greatest opportunity a student can have.

What do you want to focus on in your work experience today, and what is your career goal?

Certainly, my focus at work will be “the hunger to learn,” but above all, the determination to achieve the company’s objectives. My goal in my career will be to grow within the company, increasing the importance of my role but without skipping steps. With calmness and patience in life, one can achieve a lot, but we must always have the desire to aim high and never underestimate ourselves. Entrepreneurial spirit is also about this.

Give 3 pieces of advice to your fellow students to get like you a career opportunity.

  • Never underestimate yourself; we all have value, and we can all achieve success.
  • Don’t give up even when it seems difficult; determination and perseverance are key elements to finding satisfaction in life.
  • The desire to learn is what drives you to always aim high!
