Interview with Matthew Nesiayali: from Rome Business School to Enel Green Power

 

Matthew Nesiayali from Nigeria is a Master in International Human Resources Management student at Rome Business School. He is currently working at Enel Green Power, Italy as the HR intern. We recently interviewed Matthew on his internship experience and here’s what he had to say:

1. What department do you work in and what are some of your duties?

Human Resources Organization (HRO) – Compensation and Development Unit.
My duties are basically to support the HR business partner’s assignments in the unit and any other task given to me by the unit manager.

2. How has been your experience as an intern so far

The experience has been awesome. I now know how Italians work, the unique technologies they use and interactive methods they use to interface to solve problems in the company and their social values too.

3. Is it vital to have a clean social media, do you think employers check social media?

Yes it is absolutely vital to have a clean social media presence. Yes employer and user managers do check you. They checked me during my interview stage before being accepted.

4. I believe your resume played an important role in getting you recognized, what do you think is crucial to include in your resume and what should candidates leave out?

First I used www. canva.com. It has free impressive templates that gives you an edge and my page was just one page. My strengths such as my skills, ongoing education, previous HR work experiences. I expressed my job role in quantifiable terms and as achievements too.
