“Open Music Initiative Rome: Exploration and Implementation of A More Transparent And Sustainable Music Rights Ecosystem”
The Rome Business School and the Berklee College of Music present an exclusive workshop for the first time in Italy
The Rome Business School, together with the Berklee College of Music, Boston (ICE, Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship), is organizing an exclusive workshop for top professionals working in the music industry. This is the first time this type of workshop is being organized in Italy; it will take place at the Rome Business School on the 19th and 20th of February, 2018.
One of the co-organizers and speakers is Prof. George Howard (former president of Rykodisc, the world’s largest independent record label, and co-founder of TuneCore, the world’s largest independent digital music distributor). Prof. Howard is a sought-after expert witness who has drafted reports for and testified in many high-profile cases. He is also is a columnist for Forbes and a frequent contributor to the New York Times and many other publications.

Matteo Fedeli, Head of the Music Division at SIAE (The Italian Society for the Authors and Publishers’ Rights) – SIAE is a Collective Management Organization (CMO). It Intermediates more than 700€M every year issuing over 1.2M licences and managing more than 50M different musical works for its 80k+ members and other CMOs through more than 120 international agreements.
• Educator/Artist Perspective
Stefano Mastruzzi, Director of St. Louis College of Music in Rome) – Composition Diploma in Conservatorio de L’Aquila and Classic Guitar Diploma obtained in Conservatorio S. Cecilia of Rome studying with Leonardo Leonardo Gallucci and Carlo Carfagna; Law Degree at ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome; jazz guitar scholarship at Berklee College of Music of Boston, where he has studied with Jim Kelly, Gary Burton, Bret Willmott. Since 1988 he has been the Director of Saint Louis College of Music, founder and artistic director of the agency Saint Louis Management, and of 4 independent recording labels (Jazz Collection, Urban49, Camilla Records, ArtUro Sound).

Day 2 will take the discussion points and synthesize into a working technological solution, that will be wire-framed, and, ideally built.

Since the workshop has limited number of participants, registration for the event is required. The workshop is free of charge and includes a buffet with food and drinks.
