Yesterday, Rome Business School, in collaboration with the FERPI-Federation of Italian Public Relations Delegation, organized the Focus Group event: “NET-WAR. Notes and insights for institutional and corporate communicators.”
The event was the occasion to debate and better understand the dynamics, communications and narratives in war times, and to introduce the book “NET-WAR” by Michele Mezza, RAI journalist, essayist and university lecturer, published in recent days by Donzelli Editore.
The stimulating discussion at the RBS campus, involved many speakers with different professional backgrounds.The conduction of the meeting was entrusted to Mauro Covino, FERPI Lazio Delegate, who guided the audience in understanding the lessons we can learn about communication from times of war, which can be key learnings today and tomorrow.
Then, Daniela Bianchi, Ferpi National Advisor and Public Affairs, analyzed the increased role of Strategic Communication among civil society and during conflict; Vincenzo D’Anna, StraCom Analyst, IARI (Institute for the Analysis of International Relations), spoke about the evolution of conflicts in different forms, generations and gradients to arrive at today’s concept of net-war and the concrete consequences of the use of strategic narratives in armed conflicts; Daniela Poggio, Global Communication Executive Director Angelini Pharma, addressed the issue of disintermediation processes that have affected companies as well as states through the use of social platforms to directly communicate their news.
Finally, Alessio Postiglione, Director of the Rome Business School’s Master in Corporate Communication, talked about how the application of filter bubbles and the long tail intervene on the geopolitics of the Ukrainian conflict and communication itself as an asset in the conflict itself.
