Rome Business School enters the Positive Impact Rating 2024

  • Only 77 business schools in the world are included in the 2024 rating, which classifies management schools and universities with a positive impact on society.
  • Rome Business School and POLIMI Graduate School of Management are the only two business schools in Italy to be included in the rating.
  • Rome Business School has been positively assessed for its orientation towards purpose and vision, the individual support provided to students, the integration of ethics and sustainability in the Master’s programme, and the innovative approach to learning.

Rome Business School enters the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) 2024, a rating that ranks management schools and universities with a positive impact on society. The report, presented today at the UN PRME Global Forum, analyses the social impact of 102 institutions located in 34 different countries. Only 77 business schools worldwide were included in the 2024 rating.

Rome Business School was the only Italian business school together with POLIMI Graduate School of Management to appear in this year’s rating. Rome Business School, like POLIMI, was ranked at PIR level 3 thanks to important achievements in various dimensions of the rating, including: corporate culture, innovative teaching methods, specific courses on ethics and sustainability in business.

“Inclusion in the Positive Impact Rating 2024 represents for Rome Business School not only a recognition, but also a positive stimulus to continue our path of innovation in management education. We are committed to transforming the traditional approach to education, by integrating the principles of sustainability and ethical responsibility more and more deeply into our programmes. The high ratings received by our students confirm the effectiveness of our educational method, which focuses on being catalysts for positive change in the global community. Our goal is to continuously exceed expectations, equipping future leaders with the skills and vision needed to innovate and lead with integrity,” says Antonio Ragusa, Dean of Rome Business School.

The Positive Impact Rating model is based on surveys filled out directly by students and consisting of 20 questions that assess their perception of the current state of the institution on a scale of 1 to 10 on three macro areas: Energising, Educating and Engaging; these in turn are divided into seven dimensions and focus on criteria such as governance, culture, learning methods, student support and public engagement. In the 2024 edition, 15,222 students from 102 institutions on five continents participated. Of the 77 business schools around the world included in the 2024 rating, seven scored at level 5 (Pioneering Schools), 39 at level 4 (Transforming Schools) and 23 at level 3 (Progressing Schools).

The aim of the PIR is to change the paradigm of management schools globally by providing a structured and comprehensive assessment of their positive impact on society and the environment. The PIR is carried out with the active support of organisations such as WWF, Oxfam International and UNGC Switzerland.

Rome Business School students rated several aspects of the school positively. In the Energizing area, for example, they highlighted the school’s alignment with its purpose and vision, appreciating the staff’s motivation and solid support for student growth. In the Educating area, the students evaluated the specific modules and courses taken, such as Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, the Leadership Program, and the various elective courses, including in Diversity & Inclusion, as well as activities with third-sector realities during the Master, such as Workshop in Fair Employability with Doctors Without Borders, Company Visit to FAO, and Company Meeting with WWF. They also praised the innovative learning methods and the programmes’ ability to develop relevant skills to address social challenges and co-create solutions with corporate and social stakeholders.

Rome Business School is firmly committed to training students, future leaders capable of being agents of positive change in the company and in the world. An example of this is the presence in the portfolio of ad hoc Masters to train professionals in topics with a strong social impact, such as the International Master in Ethics, Diversity & Inclusion, collaborating with NGOs such as Save The Children, PRME of the United Nations and PWA, committed to donations and promoting the centrality of the individual, an ethical and socially responsible approach to business, and multiculturalism in all the Masters. Rome Business School’s mission today is to train future managers who are inclusive and innovative, and act ethically for a better world. Not only that, RBS, as one of the most international business schools in Italy, assigns a primary role to intercultural communication among its students and ensures access to management training worldwide.

This further prestigious recognition brings the total number of awards obtained by the Rome Business School to 5 in 2024 alone: in addition to the PIR, QS Stars Rating assessed the excellence of RBS assigning it 4 stars out of 5, QS World University Ranking rated the International Online MBA 63rd in the world, CEO Magazine ranked it 18th in Europe, Eduniversal Ranking awarded 12 of the RBS Masters.

Antonio Ragusa, Dean of Rome Business School, says: “We are proud to have been recognised in the Positive Impact Rating 2024, which reflects our commitment to responsible and sustainable education. This achievement underscores our efforts to train knowledgeable leaders prepared to tackle global challenges, reaffirming our mission to train ‘Better Managers for a Better World’.”
