Does your creative client really need a website?

Let’s not beat around the bush here. The obvious answer is “yes!” A million time, “yes!” Nevertheless, I continue to speak with actors, directors, visual artists, and others who are not convinced. They tell me, “In my industry, websites don’t really get you work.” Or, “I can just have a listing with the acting agency or on IMBD.” Or, “Everything is on my socials—that’s all I use anyway. I don’t really need a website.” Or, “I get most of my work through word of mouth.”

Well, guess what… even if all of that is true, people are still going to google them. While all of these perspectives are valid, they are just not taking the whole picture into account. And don’t take it from me. Forbes Magazine says that having your own website is especially important when you’re an artist—so you can select and showcase your best work. And the Daily Actor says that having a website is THE most important promotional tool for actors, providing the best way to supply their headshot, résumé, and reels. Simply direct an agent, customer, or any interested party to your website and everything they need to know about you is in one place, ready to be downloaded.

But what if your clients don’t know how to build a website? What if they can’t afford it? If they are your clients, it’s your job to make it happen! These days, it’s very simple and inexpensive to build a gorgeous website. And, if you can’t do it yourself, you can hire someone to do it for you. No more excuses. Make sure your creative clients have their user-friendly websites today.
