Open Garden: A Morning to Give Back

Breakfast & Blood Donation with AVIS

24/06/2026 08:30h On campus News 24 June

On Tuesday, June 24th, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, Rome Business School invites its community to take part in a meaningful initiative that brings together solidarity, wellbeing, and connection. Organized by the Alumni Office, the Open Garden – A Morning to Give Back event is designed for students, alumni, faculty and staff who wish to contribute to a vital cause while sharing a special moment on campus.

In collaboration with AVIS (Italian Voluntary Blood Association), the initiative offers the opportunity to donate blood in a safe and professional environment, followed by a relaxing breakfast in the school’s welcoming setting.

Why Participate?

Donating blood is a simple yet powerful gesture. Every day, hospitals rely on donations to perform surgeries, support treatments, and save lives. By taking part, you are not only helping others but also becoming part of a community that values responsibility, empathy, and impact. At the same time, Open Garden is an opportunity to reconnect—with fellow students, alumni, and the broader RBS network—over a shared purpose.

Who Can Donate?

You may be eligible to donate blood if you:

  • Are between 18 and 65 years old
  • Weigh at least 50 kg
  • Are in good general health
  • Have stable vital parameters (blood pressure, pulse, etc.)

Before donating, a qualified AVIS medical team will carry out a brief health screening and medical check-up to ensure that the process is safe for both donors and recipients.

There are some temporary conditions that may require postponing the donation, such as recent travel, medical treatments, or minor procedures, but all cases are carefully evaluated by professionals on site.

How the Donation Works

The experience is simple, safe, and well-organized:

  1. Registration – Bring a valid ID (and residence permit if applicable) and complete a short questionnaire
  2. Medical Check – A doctor assesses your eligibility
  3. Blood Donation – A quick and safe procedure (about 10 minutes)
  4. Breakfast & Relaxation – Enjoy a well-deserved moment to recharge with the community

Preparing for Your Donation

To ensure the best experience, here are a few simple tips:

  • Have a light breakfast (tea, coffee, juice, toast, or biscuits)
  • Avoid milk and heavy foods before donation
  • Stay well hydrated
  • Bring your ID (and residence permit if applicable)
