When did you find out you that you wanted to be a teacher? I do not consider myself a teacher, but I am just sharing with the students my experiences and my advices. We discuss a lot and I push them always to think higher and higher because life Is surely tougher than they think.

What teaching strategies or techniques do you usually use? Real life: I have been doing Strategy for 25 years, so it Is easy for me to bring examples of real project I did in USA, Europe, Asia where I lived. Not the theory or the books, real life experiences Is what they need and what I want to bring to them. I share right points and wrong issues, and the magic is that they listen and – I hope – they learn!

What are the 3 fundamental competences that a worker needs to have in order to succeed in his/her future career? Not a worker, in the Rome Business School we train Manager for a Better World therefore I refer to young potential managers: LEADERSHIP, PREPARATION, ENGAGEMENT. You need leadership & motivation to drive the organization where you work, you need preparation because you need to know deeply before leading, you need engagement because people want to feel part of the team or of the overall organization you will lead.

What suggestion would you like to give to your students about how to get the most out of their educational experience? It is not a suggestion, but from my experience: I was able to work in what I studied, and then step by step I developed my career leveraging on the previous experience in order to make a better one. Create a professional development path, do not jump from one job to another.

According to you, what are the 3 main characteristics that a successful manager should have? As above: LEADERSHIP, PREPARATION, ENGAGEMENT.

Do you have a mentor? If yes, who? Yes, he is dead. My Professor of Strategy at MBA In Boston: prof. Scott. He taught me to think strategically, I never stopped to do that from that moment!

The most important lesson that you learned during your career path. As I said before: connect the dots! Make one career step connected to the other and you can grow and develop your professional expertise and reputation.

How would you have your students find out their talent? Choose what you like and what you are Interested In. Then go deep and become and expert, you will be and expert only If you have talent in what you are doing.

How do you motivate yourself to take action? I do not motivate myself, I challenge myself to be always on top of all the Issues. Tiring? Yes, but full of satisfaction.

What would you like to change about yourself? I want more, I want to achieve more, I want to be involved more. In what? In all the things I choose as challenges for myself.
